Netbook Deal of the Day (6/23/09) on Samsung N120
Posted by Tom Greer on June 23, 2009 in Falling Prices, Samsung Netbooks
Here is a dynamite deal on one of today’s hottest netbooks, the Samsung N120.
Ever since Samsung introduced the N120 several months back, it has been one of the most heavily viewed netbooks on our site.
Computer Shopper gave the Samsung N120 its Editors’ Choice Award. Steve (our other Editor) uses an N120 as his personal netbook and he constantly raves about it.
That is because the N120 has so much to offer. While many of the features are common to other netbooks (like the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, 6 Cell Battery…), there are a lot of things that make the N120 special.
Let’s start with battery life, which according to our visitors, is the most important feature they seek in a netbook. The N120 gets great battery life, around 6 hours in real-world use.
On top of that the N120 has a great, traditional-style keyboard, with full-size shift keys.
In black or white, the N120 looks great, is lightweight and thin. Best of all, the N120 is solidly built.
The deal?
The N120 typically retails for around $410 – $425. If you look hard, you might find one or two places where you can pick up an N120 for $399.
But, for a limited time, SuperBiiz has the N120 on sale for $379 with FREE shipping. To get this deal, you will need to use one of the links below and use coupon code SUMMER20 at checkout.

Netbook Deal of the Day – 6/20/09
Posted by Tom Greer on June 20, 2009 in Asus Netbooks, Falling Prices
The Asus N10J A2 is a high-performance netbook that gets a lot of attention from those who need more power than the typical netbook can provide.
Asus accomplishes this by adding a second graphics accelerator, an NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS with 256 MB of dedicated RAM. That’s in addition to the normal Intel GMA 950 graphics adapter. When high performance is needed the NVIDIA adapter can be switched on. When you need to be nice to your battery, then the Intel is available. (Switching does require a reboot.)
The N10J A2 also comes with a lot of other high-end features like:
- 10.2″ display (1024×600 resolution)
- 2 GB RAM
- 320 GB Hard Drive,
- 802.11b/g/n
- Bluetooth
- 6-Cell Battery
Of course, with those features, Microsoft won’t allow it to be packaged with XP, so Asus loads Vista Business, but includes a free XP Downgrade (which you will want to load).
Asus then squeezes all this power into a 1.4″ thick case that weighs only 3.5 pounds. What there not to love?
Oh, the price?
Well, that’s the good news. While most other places have the N10J A2 priced around $800, B&H Photo has cut their price to $759.95. On top of that you get FREE shipping.

Nettop Deal of the Day – 6/20/09
Posted by Tom Greer on June 20, 2009 in Asus Nettops, Falling Prices
If it is time to replace your old desktop and you don’t need a superfast gaming machine, then consider a nettop. These tiny, super-quiet, attractive desktops are easy on the pocketbook, while providing all of the horsepower you need for surfing the web, sending emails and even watching videos.
Right now, SuperBiiz has cut their price on the Black model of the Asus Eee Box B206 nettop to $313.14. This is a great deal, it is more that $35 lower than any of the other merchants that we track.
You can save an additional $10 off by using coupon code SUMMER10 (coupon expires 6/30).
The Asus Eee Box B206 comes with an 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and 1 GB of RAM. It has an ATI HD3450 video accelerator with 256MB memory that has enough power to handle your HD videos. It comes with an HDMI port so you can display those on your HDTV.
The 160 GB hard drive has plenty of space to store your music, pictures and videos.
The B206 comes with built-in 802.11b/g/n wi-fi support for high-speed wireless connectivity. Or, if you prefer a wired connection, the B206 comes with a Gigabit LAN port.
It also comes with a new keyboard and mouse.
So, for just over $300, you can replace that old, ugly, noisy desktop with a tiny, quiet and good-looking nettop and, at the same time, be kind to the environment by consuming a lot less power.

Toshiba mini NB205 gets Editors Choice
Posted by Steve Greer on June 18, 2009 in Netbooks, Reviews, Toshiba Netbooks
The new Toshiba mini NB205 has received an Editors’ Choice Award at LaptopMag.
The mini NB205 will have 2 models with the first priced at $349.00 and a higher priced model at $399.00.
When you look at the specs on the netbook it looks like your standard run of the mill:
- 1.66-GHz Intel Atom N280 processor
- 1GB RAM
- 10.1″ display
- Intel GMA 950 graphics card
- 802.11 b/g wireless
- Bluetooth 2.1 EDR
- 160GB Hard Drive
In the review that LaptopMag gives they state that the laptop has one of the longest battery life to date for a netbook. The mini NB205 packs a whopping 8.5 hours of battery life.
The keyboard is very comfortable with a large touchpad. This is a nice plus since many netbooks have small touchpads.
In all to sum up what LaptopMag had to say about the netbook:
In creating its first netbook for the U.S., Toshiba has learned from the mistakes and successes of its rivals, and one-upped them all. Its mini NB205 has everything we’d recommend in a netbook: an attractive chassis, comfortable keyboard and touchpad, and more than eight hours of battery life for an affordable price. While Samsung’s N110 and ASUS’ Eee PC 1000HE continue to be good choices, Toshiba’s $399 mini NB205 provides an all-around solid package, and longer endurance than the competition.
