Samsung N310 Overview

Posted by Tom Greer on July 31, 2009 in Samsung Netbooks

Samsung N310

Samsung N310

Summary

What’s Special

  • Designed by Japanese artist Naoto Fukasawa (to mimic the roundness of a pebble), the Samsung N310 is strikingly different and strangely compelling.  A definite attention-getter.
  • Exterior has a slightly grainy rubberized feel
  • The keyboard is coated with a nano-sized silver ion powder that Samsung claims kills 99% of the bacteria that come in contact
  • Six-cell, 8850 mAh battery provides 10+ hours of real-world life

What’s Not So Special

  • The value – you definitely pay a premium for the artistic design and specially treated keyboard.
  • Inside, the N310 offers standard netbook components.  From a performance standpoint, there is nothing special at all.

Samsung N310 coming next week

Posted by Steve Greer on July 10, 2009 in Netbook Market, Netbooks, Samsung Netbooks

Newegg has released an unboxing video of the new Samsung N310 netbook.

Newegg is claiming to have the Samsung N310 in stock by end of next week. That would put it on shelves by the 19th of July.

The Samsung N310 is available for pre-order via J&R Electornics. They are still advertising the netbook as the N310.

There has been talk that Samsung is going to be rebranding the N310 to the Samsung Go.

Here is the video unboxing video of the Samsung N310. I know it’s not the best video. Maybe we should do one for the viewers!

Samsung N510 coming with some goodies

Posted by Steve Greer on July 9, 2009 in Netbook Market, Netbooks, Samsung Netbooks

Samsung n510

Samsung is preparing to launch the new N510 series netbook. Listed below is the set of features that the N510 will have. You will see that Samsung will be using the Intel N280 processor that runs at 1.66GHz.

Here is what we know so far:

  • 11.6-inch Display
  • NVIDIA Ion Graphics Chipset
  • Intel Atom N280 Processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB Hard Drive
  • WiFi b/g/n
  • HDMI Out
  • 6-Cell Li-Ion battert
  • Webcam
  • Bluetooth
  • Multi-format card reader
  • Windows XP home

One of the big new features that the Samsung N510 will offer is the capability of playing high-definition video. The NVIDIA Ion Graphics chipset teamed up with the Intel Atom N280 processor makes this possible.

The display will have a 1,366 X 768 resolution which will make viewing high-definition video very nice.

One machine that would possibly rival the Samsung N510 is the Acer Aspire One 751. The Aspire One 751 will fall short when comparing it to the Samsung N510.

One of the issues the Aspire One 751 has is the lack of a powerful processor. It comes with the Intel Atom Z5XX series processor which is significantly slower than the Intel Atom N280.

This in return will not give the Aspire One 751 the capability to play high-definition video.

As we get close to a launch date for the Samsung N510 we will keep you posted. This is one of the netbooks that I personally am looking forward to getting my hands on!

Samsung calling the N310 the Samsung Go

Posted by Steve Greer on July 1, 2009 in Netbooks, Samsung Netbooks

Samsung N310Due sometime out mid July, Samsung is going to release the N310 netbook.  It has been rumored that Samsung is going to be calling the netbook the Samsung Go.

The Samsung Go is going to be priced around $479.00 and brings a new look and feel compared to other Samsung netbooks.

The colorful new netbook will have a rugged lid, and be available in many colors.  Samsung is also going to be releasing a 11.6 inch netbook called the N510.

There has been pictures of the N510 with an HDMI port on it.  This will be Samsungs first 11.6 inch display with the NVIDIA ION Chipset.

We will keep you posted as the N510 nears a launch date.

Netbook Deal of the Day (6/23/09) on Samsung N120

Posted by Tom Greer on June 23, 2009 in Falling Prices, Samsung Netbooks

Here is a dynamite deal on one of today’s hottest netbooks, the Samsung N120.

Samsung N120 160GB 6-Cell XP10.2" Display (1024x600), 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, 6 Cell Battery, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

To $448.95

Comes in:
  • Black (N120-12GBK) - from $314.95
  • Blue (N120-13GBL) - from $329.00
  • White (N120-12GW ) - from $319.00

Ever since Samsung introduced the N120 several months back, it has been one of the most heavily viewed netbooks on our site.

Computer Shopper gave the Samsung N120 its Editors’ Choice Award.  Steve (our other Editor) uses an N120 as his personal netbook and he constantly raves about it.

That is because the N120 has so much to offer. While many of the features are common to other netbooks (like the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, 6 Cell Battery…), there are a lot of things that make the N120 special.

Let’s start with battery life, which according to our visitors, is the most important feature they seek in a netbook.  The N120 gets great battery life, around 6 hours in real-world use.

On top of that the N120 has a great, traditional-style keyboard, with full-size shift keys.

In black or white, the N120 looks great, is lightweight and thin.  Best of all, the N120 is solidly built.

The deal?

The N120 typically retails for around $410 – $425.  If you look hard, you might find one or two places where you can pick up an N120 for $399.

But, for a limited time, SuperBiiz has the N120 on sale for $379 with FREE shipping.  To get this deal, you will need to use one of the links below and use coupon code SUMMER20 at checkout.

Over 1 million Samsung NC10’s sold

Posted by Steve Greer on June 9, 2009 in Netbook Market, Netbooks, Samsung Netbooks

Samsung NC10Samsung released the NC10 back in October of 2008. The company has announced that it has officially sold over a million NC10’s.

This is a big step for Samsung since the NC10 was their first entry into the  netbook market.

One of the features that set the NC10 apart from the other netbooks was it’s keyboard.  The Samsung NC10 has one of the best keyboards on a netbook still to date.

Samsung has also announced a new version of the NC10 that will have the option of WiMAX.  This NC10 will be a bit more pricy, which will probably turn some people away.

You can now pick up an Samsung NC10 for under $380.00.  Check out the latest prices here.

Since the NC10 Samsung has gone on to release the N110, Nc20, and N120 models recently.
