You’re probably right.

But personally, I need a high-end big laptop. I need something with high performance, big screen, and mobility for work and games.

Sure, small desktops may be mobile but it’s a hassle to bring the keyboard, mouse, and monitor with it

Sure, a netbook and desktop combo is generally cheaper than a high-end laptop, but I’m not weighing cost. I’m weighing what I need and the few people that may fall in my category

Hello,

Has anyone been able to get the internal 3g card to work with Linux? I am running the netbook edition of Ubuntu 10.10 (I believe…definitely a novice at this). Barry is now working so I can tether blackberry but rather do without the anchor if possible.

The $99 7″ Sylvania Netbook at CVS and etal is running Win CE v6 (and can run Andriod).

The new Win CE upgrade fixes a wifi bug, make desktop look more like Vista/Win7 and adds many more websites for news, videos, books and games. The default is to now start wifi on boot.

The desktop widgets include battery and wifi indicators.

I started a yahoo group to try to agregate the wide spread interest.

Laptops have major issues. For one, modern laptops need replacement every 2-3 years, and true desktop replacements are bulky. The laptops have processors too powerful for a small enclosure, the laptops heat up, and eventually die way too soon.
The desktop, netbook combo wins on many grounds. The desktop becomes the workhorse, and the netbook becomes the portable extension.
All you need is a portable HDD.
Not sure if this is going to be the future, let the market decide that.

so this is why i cannot get the customers netbook to :
run a virus scanner, run real programs,
or stop misdirecting me and him,,
MS took out support for ,,,, computing?????????????

it would have been better if they
just put a “drivers” directory on it
and allowed us to load our own installs
