Follow us on TwitterAsus recently began shipping the Eee PC 1005HA in the USA. This model is very similar to the Eee PC 1008HA. The main differences in the 1005HA model are: the battery is removable, there is a VGA port and the unit is slightly thicker.
The confusing thing about the 1005HA is that Asus is shipping two different versions. You may see these referred to as 1005HA-V and 1005HA-P.

The real significant difference between the two is the battery. While both models have 6-cell batteries, the 1005HA-P battery is more powerful and will last longer. Asus says that the battery in the 1005HA-V will last 8.5 hours, while the 1005HA-P’s battery will last 10.5 hours.
The difference in the CPU will probably not be perceivable to most users. If you need Bluetooth support, you will need to buy the 1005HA-P version.
The other difference is price. Currently, the 1005HA-V is priced around $349 and the 1005HA-P around $389. So, for many buyers the question is “Is an extra 2.5 hours of battery life worth $40?”
