A few months back, Dell abruptly discontinued their popular Inspiron Mini 9 series.  These 9″ netbooks were a great buy at $249.00.

Apparently, Dell has located a few more and they are offering them for $199.00.  Act fast if you want one.

Dell has officially announced the end of the road for the Mini 9 Netbook.  DellMini 9 has joined other manufacturers as they have drop their 8.9 inch netbook model.

Dell has removed the Mini 9 from their site and is now no longer available.

Back in January of this year, the netbooks available were almost exclusively Asus Eee PCs.   In the beginning, they all ran Linux.

This trend worried Microsoft immensely.  This little niche was gaining a lot of popularity.  What would happen if customers found out that Linux could actually be used by normal people?  With Vista already unpopular in many circles, there could be serious consequences if people learned that Linux actually provided the functionality that they needed. Dell Introduces Inspiron Mini 9

Tomorrow Dell will officially introduce the Inspiron Mini 9.  The Inspiron Mini 9 will be Dell’s first netbook.  It will be offered with Ubuntu MID Edition 8.04 (Linux) or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
