HP Mini 1150NR With AT&T Contract for $199.99
Posted by Tom Greer on June 1, 2009 in HP Netbooks
AT&T offers a number of netbooks at discount prices if you agree to a two-year data plan on their website. None of the netbooks that they currently offer look like very good bargains to me.
What is interesting is that Amazon.com is currently offering an HP Mini 1150NR for only $199.99 with a 2-year AT&T data plan. If you are planning to sign a plan for 3G data service, then this would be a nice deal.
Apparently, this is an exclusive through Amazon.com. AT&T does not list any HP netbooks on their site.
Of course, if you just want the HP Mini 1050NR without the cellular data contract, then you will want to visit one of the other merchants listed below.

HP Cuts Price on Pavilion dv2 by $75
Posted by Tom Greer on May 26, 2009 in Falling Prices, HP Netbooks
HP has just their price for the Pavilion dv2 by $75, bringing the price down to $674.99.
This is a really sweet high-performance machine based on the AMD’s Neo NV-40 processor. Together with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3410 graphics accelerator and 4GB of RAM, this netbook is set to handle many high-definition video and other applications that choke other netbooks.
The HP Pavilion dv2 also comes with lots of other goodies like a built in DVD drive, a 320 GB hard drive and support for the 802.11n wifi standard.
At this point, the deal is only available directly from HP’s online store where they are providing the $75 savings via an instant rebate.

Netbooks Get Bigger, More Powerful
Posted by Tom Greer on May 3, 2009 in Asus Netbooks, Dell Netbooks, HP Netbooks, MSI Netbooks, Netbook Market, Ultraportables
For a long time, it seemed every new netbook looked the same as the last: 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor, 10-inch screen, 160 GB hard drive, etc. But recently, there have been a whole wave of netbooks featuring bigger screens, faster processors and other features unique to netbooks.
Here are the ones that we like best:
- HP Pavilion dv2
- Asus N10J
- Dell Inspiron Mini 12
- MSI Meron VR220

Overnight, there was a lot of pricing activity on netbooks, so today’s article is way longer than normal. So, here we go…
If you’ve been salivating over the hot new Samsung N120, then put your bib on and get your wallet out.
J&R Electronics now has it in stock and their prices are way lower ($439.99 for the Black model and $439.00 for the White).
Selecting My New Netbook, Part 4
Posted by Tom Greer on April 17, 2009 in HP Netbooks
Let me quickly bring everyone up to speed:
I dropped my briefcase containing my notebook and netbook while traveling. Shortly thereafter, my netbook became dysfunctional. So I need a new netbook.
I defined my needs and wants. Then decided which netbooks were possibilities.
I investigated the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and decided that was out.
Then I looked at the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 and decided it was definitely in.
In this article I am exploring the HP Mini 1000, which comes with either a 9″ or 10″ display. Since the 9″ model is identical except for the display size, I have already decided that I’m more interested in the 10″ model. So that is what I’ll be exploring below.
Although, I can custom order a Mini 1000 from HP, they also provide “Smart Buy” models, which are simply standard configurations at a discounted prices. The Smart Buy model that most closely meets my requirements is the Mini 1120NR.
