Asus has teamed up with Microsoft and launched a web site called It’s better with Windows.
If you remember when Asus launched the Eee PC it came with a custom Linux load. This was a huge event for the Linux community.
The success of the netbook and the Eee PC had caught Microsoft’s attention. Within the last 6 months to a year Microsoft has successfully taken over the netbook market with Windows XP.
Now with Windows dominating the netbook market and Linux quickly losing ground I have to ask the question. Do you think it’s better with Windows?

Obviously, Microsoft is working hard to cement its monopoly position in the netbook operating system space.
Once they successfully do that, you can expect the prices of netbooks to go up significantly as Microsoft increases the license cost for Windows on a netbook.
They will do this by offering a low-cost, somewhat crippled, netbook version of Windows 7 – and severely limiting what hardware is can be packaged with. We will all be *enticed* to buy a higher cost version.
I expect Moblin and Android to come up to speed quickly to make life difficult for Microsoft.
It should be fun to watch.
I have the Eee PC 4G Surf. XP was a little hard to put on a small HD but it worked. Performance was less then desirable and I had a constant drive space issue. Not to mention that SP3 would not install due to drive space issues as well.
I eventually got fed up with it and installed Ubuntu. Performance and drive space are amazingly different. Now the only issue I have is the tiny screen and keyboard.
